Description
• Work with Sales, Operations, and Tooling teams as needed on new projects. This would include but not limited to, tooling transfer, equipment transfer, plant improvements, and new equipment.
• Primary Lead in Lean Manufacturing and contribute to 5 “S” best practices.
• Participate and have input in twice a week plant production meeting, as well as once a quarter ISO Management Review Meetings.
• Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures when working in the plant.
• Observe a setup and/or tryout of a new or existing die in a production machine to determine need for re-design or readiness for production use.
• Complete a comprehensive die inventory, with end goal of scrapping or returning to customer obsolete tooling. Goal is for some much-needed space for die storage.
• Create and implement standardized sharpening procedures.
• Develop and maintain stock tooling inventory items and/or repair parts. For Kan Ban Dies.
• New Project management (ie. new tooling).
• Coordinate tool room, machining and/or wire EDM schedules – both tooling jobs and production.
• Liaison between tool room and production to ensure successful single setup and production runs. Identify and implement repairs/improvements on dies that are not achieving rates or run quantities.
• Assist with implementing production process improvements by engineering tooling/fixtures/conveyors/chutes that will allow stamping processes to run at or above production rates without adding more staff.
• Communicate with production planner/manager to schedule tool room staff to support production requirements
• (May) Travel to customers & vendors and/or Trade Shows.
Job Requirements:
• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with Mfg Engineering emphasis with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in production, tooling and engineering.
• Able to access and use Epicor ERP System manufacturing software program.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Access and knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Accommodation as required for reading computer screens, instruments, blue prints and documents.
• Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action
