Perform tasks required to independently isolate problems with tools & dies, take them apart, machine new parts (or repair old ones) and reassemble the tooling and dies. Tasks must be performed that the tools are capable of producing quality parts to specifications when returned to production and fast enough that the tools can be returned to production without an interruption in service to our customers.
` Hands-on prototype development and performing preventative maintenance on tools and dies.
` Participate as assigned in all phases of die-making projects from start to finish, including milling, grinding, polishing, and assembly.
` Must be familiar with various types of dies, including: Blanking, Forming, Progressive, Compount.
` Use Vertical Mills, Lathes, and Grinders, etc. with little to no supervision.
` Set up First Article Inspection and operate with QC tolerance of +/-.0005.
` Apply advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, engineering drawings, metal properties, layout and machining procedures to determine the most efficient and accurate machining methods and sequence of operations to produce parts.
` Set up and fabricate complex precision parts to specifications using manual machine tools such as lathes, mills, shapers or grinders.
` Inspect and verify conformance to specifications on first article machined parts.
` Monitor the machining process, measure parts during fabrication operations and adjust settings and operations to ensure product conformance to all applicable specifications.
` Be able to set up and make misc. gages and fixtures to support production in welding, stamping, turning, milling.
` Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on assigned machines and perform routine maintenance tasks on plant equipment.
